Plastids Farming in Warframe — Best Farm Locations

What Are Plastids Used For?
Plastids are an uncommon crafting material used extensively in Warframe, Sentinel, Archwing, and weapon blueprints. They appear later in the resource chain than Alloy Plate or Ferrite, being tied to mid-game planets like Saturn and Uranus. Many players hit a Plastids wall when trying to craft their first Archwing components or later Warframe blueprints.
Common Plastids uses include crafting Warframe components (notably Ash, Banshee, Nova, and Saryn components), Archwing parts (Odonata, Amesha), Sentinel components, Forma blueprints, and various weapons. Recipes often call for anywhere from 200 to 5,000 Plastids per component.
Unlike purely Infested-sourced resources, Plastids drop from both Grineer and Infested enemies on compatible planets, which gives more mission variety for farming. They do not drop from Corpus enemies.

Recommended Farm: Ophelia, Uranus
- Location
- Ophelia, Uranus (Dark Sector Survival)
- Start point
- Spawn — head to the main corridor and establish a kill zone near the life support capsule
- Yield
- 8,000–20,000 Plastids per 20-minute run with Nekros + Resource Booster
Steps
- Navigate to Ophelia on the Uranus node. This requires completing the Uranus Junction and progressing far enough on the Star Chart.
- Bring Nekros with Desecrate (Despoil augment recommended) or Khora with Pilfering Strangledome.
- Equip a Vacuum or Fetch mod on your Sentinel or Companion to auto-collect drops.
- Stay mobile and keep Nekros's Desecrate active at all times within range of enemy corpses.
- Open all lockers and resource containers in the tileset — these contribute a meaningful portion of your total haul.
- Run for 20 minutes minimum. The C rotation (20 minutes) maximizes rotation rewards in addition to enemy drops.
Tips
- Uranus has Grineer enemies, which are tankier than Infested but still yield good Plastids rates.
- A Smeeta Kavat with Charm can randomly double your resource intake — highly recommended for solo runs.
- If Ophelia is clan-locked by low clan tier, use Piscinas, Saturn as an alternative with comparable bonuses.
- Avoid Capture and Spy missions for Plastids farming — Survival provides far more enemy kills and thus more drops.
Early Access: Farming Plastids Before Uranus
Players who have not yet reached Uranus can farm Plastids on Phobos or Saturn. Phobos unlocks relatively early in the Star Chart and hosts a mix of Grineer and Infested missions, though the drop rate is lower than dedicated Dark Sector nodes.
Piscinas, Saturn is the recommended choice for players in the mid-game who have not yet reached Uranus. It has the same 25% Dark Sector bonus as Ophelia and is available earlier in progression. Infested enemies at Piscinas are generally less tanky than Uranus Grineer, making it more accessible for squads with limited DPS.
Once you complete the Uranus Junction (requires defeating multiple Assassination targets and meeting various Star Chart prerequisites), switch to Ophelia for a significantly better experience — the Grineer here scale higher, meaning more enemies are killed per spawn wave and thus more total drops.
Tips to Maximize Plastids Per Run
- Resource Booster: The most impactful multiplier — doubles all Plastids collected. Available for Platinum or earned through Nightwave.
- Nekros Desecrate: Adds a second loot roll on each corpse. Use the Despoil augment to spend health instead of energy for uptime.
- Khora Pilfering Strangledome: Currently adds a 65% chance for bonus drops when killing enemies suspended in Strangledome.
- Smeeta Kavat Charm: Randomly activates a 30-second window that doubles resource pickups — great synergy with Nekros.
- Vacuum / Fetch: Equip on your Sentinel or Companion. Missing drops in a large Survival tileset is a significant loss over 20 minutes.
- Dark Sector missions only: Always prioritize Dark Sector nodes over standard missions — the resource bonus directly multiplies Plastids yield.
Frequently asked questions
What planet is best for farming Plastids in Warframe?
Uranus is the best planet for Plastids farming overall, specifically Ophelia (Dark Sector Survival). If you have not reached Uranus yet, Piscinas on Saturn is the next best option. Both have a 25% resource drop bonus from the Dark Sector modifier.
When do Plastids unlock in Warframe?
Plastids become available once you reach Phobos, which is accessible relatively early in the Star Chart after defeating the Phobos Junction boss. However, the best farming nodes are on Saturn and Uranus, which require further progression through the Star Chart.
How many Plastids should I keep in stock?
Aim to keep at least 10,000–20,000 Plastids in reserve if you are actively building Warframes or Archwing components. Some multi-part crafting projects (like a full Warframe with all three components) can consume 5,000–10,000 Plastids. A single 20-minute Ophelia run should replenish a normal craft's worth.
Does Nekros increase Plastids drops?
Yes. Nekros's Desecrate ability gives each corpse an additional loot roll, which directly increases Plastids per kill. It is the most effective single-frame bonus for resource farming in Warframe. Pair with Despoil augment for continuous uptime.
Can I buy Plastids with Platinum?
No. Plastids cannot be purchased directly with Platinum. They must be farmed from missions. You can purchase a Resource Booster for Platinum to double your farming yield, but the resource itself is only obtainable through gameplay.
