DMCA & Copyright
How to file a copyright complaint and how we respond to notices.
Our approach to game content
LootLore is an editorial guide site. We reference game names, item names, mechanics, and the occasional screenshot or short descriptive excerpt for the limited purpose of reporting, commentary, and reference — uses we believe qualify as fair use under U.S. copyright law (17 U.S.C. § 107) and as fair dealing in other jurisdictions. Game titles, art, screenshots, and trademarks remain the property of their respective developers and publishers.
How to file a DMCA takedown notice
If you are the copyright owner (or an authorised agent) and you believe that material on this site infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to our designated agent by email. To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), your notice must include all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or, if multiple works, a representative list).
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and the URL(s) where it appears on LootLore, in enough detail to let us locate it.
- Your contact information: full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and a reachable email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
Designated agent
Send notices to editors@lootlore.online with the subject line “DMCA takedown notice”. We aim to acknowledge receipt within two business days and to act on valid, complete notices within ten business days.
Counter-notice procedure
If material you posted (for example, a screenshot or transcript contributed to an article) has been removed in response to a DMCA notice and you believe it was removed in error, you may send a counter-notice meeting the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3). Address it to the same contact above with the subject line “DMCA counter-notice”. We will forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant; if the complainant does not file suit within ten business days, the material may be restored.
Repeat infringer policy
LootLore terminates the editorial-contribution access of contributors who, in our judgement, repeatedly infringe copyright. We may also remove and decline to republish any material that has been the subject of a substantiated infringement notice.
Bad-faith notices
Knowingly submitting a false or materially misleading DMCA notice may expose the sender to liability for damages, costs, and attorneys' fees under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). If you are unsure whether your concern is best resolved through DMCA, please reach out via the contact page first and we will work with you in good faith.
