Valheim Biome Conquest Hub — Every Biome, Forsaken Boss, and Resource Chain

How Valheim progression actually works
Valheim is one of the cleanest progression systems in the survival genre: each biome has a single Forsaken boss, killing the boss drops a key item, and that key unlocks the next biome's resources. There are no class branches — every Viking eventually carries every weapon and wears every armor set. What matters is the order. The progression guide is the spine; read it first.
Inside each biome, three decisions matter: which armor you have built for that tier, which food + mead loadout you are running, and which weapon you have specced into. The food + weapon + armor guides cover each of these levers. The boss guides cover the encounters themselves. This hub keeps every link in one place so you do not have to navigate from article to article.

Frequently asked questions
What is the recommended biome order in Valheim?
Meadows → Black Forest → Swamp → Mountain → Plains → Mistlands → Ashlands. Each biome's Forsaken boss drops a key item that unlocks the next biome's resources (Hard Antler → swamp key → wishbone → dragon tears → forsaken altar item → Queen's trophy → Fader's trophy). The progression guide covers the full chain with armor and food upgrades for each stop.
When should I fight each Forsaken boss?
Eikthyr — as soon as you have flint weapons; The Elder — after bronze tier (full bronze armor + bronze atgeir); Bonemass — after iron tier (iron mace + iron helm); Moder — after silver tier (silver weapons + drake armor); Yagluth — after black metal tier (padded armor + black metal weapons); The Queen — after carapace armor; Fader — after flametal armor. The boss guides cover the exact gear thresholds.
What armor should I build for each biome?
Meadows → leather, Black Forest → troll hide or bronze, Swamp → iron, Mountain → silver or drake, Plains → padded, Mistlands → carapace or eitr-weave (mage), Ashlands → flametal. The armor progression guide covers each tier's upgrade cost by station level; the iron vs bronze comparison covers the skip decision.
Why does Mistlands feel so much harder than Plains?
Two reasons: (1) the mist itself blocks line-of-sight, so seekers and gjalls ambush you before you can react — the Wisplight is mandatory; (2) seekers, gjalls, and seeker soldiers ignore most pre-Mistlands armor. Carapace armor or eitr-weave (for magic builds) is the threshold. The Mistlands progression guide covers the safe-entry checklist (Wisplight → carapace armor → root harnesk or magecap stamina food) and the magic build guide covers the eitr path.
Can I portal ore between bases?
No — ore, scrap iron, silver ore, black metal scrap, and flametal cannot pass through portals by default. You have to boat them home or store them at a forward base near the mine. The portal network optimization guide covers the cart + Karve / Drakkar shuttle workflow that most players use to bypass the ore restriction.
