Titan Ascendancy — Giants Blood & Colossal Slams
The Titan ascendancy is the largest-hitting, most visually dramatic build in Path of Exile 2 Warrior. Its signature is the Giants Blood keystone (taken via the Titan ascendancy nodes), which lets you wield a Two-Handed weapon in your main hand while equipping a Shield in the off-hand — at the cost of doubled attribute requirements on the 2H weapon. This grants both the massive damage of a two-handed mace and the defensive stats of a shield simultaneously, making Titan characters extraordinarily tanky while dealing enormous damage.
Other Titan ascendancy nodes increase the AoE size of slam skills, the impact-zone radius of secondary shockwaves, and stun threshold. Earthshatter already lays a wide line of stone spikes that you detonate with subsequent hits; with Titan AoE scaling, those spike lines become screen-spanning. Hammer of the Gods — the Warrior's cooldown signature — drops a titanic hammer from the sky for a single massive physical hit. With Titan amplification it can one-shot rare monsters in yellow maps and chunk huge percentages off Pinnacle bosses.
Note: Resolute Technique is a keystone on the main passive tree (yes, it exists in PoE 2 — verify on poe2db.tw if unsure) — it is NOT granted implicitly by the Titan ascendancy. If you want guaranteed hits and don't care about crits, you allocate Resolute Technique yourself on the tree like any other keystone.
Warbringer Ascendancy — Warcries, Totems & Exerts
Warbringer is the Warrior's totem + warcry specialist. Warcries (Rallying Cry, Seismic Cry, Infernal Cry, Warcry itself) are short-cooldown instant skills that buff allies, hit enemies, and generate Exert charges. An Exerted attack is your next attack supercharged — Exerted slams deal significantly increased damage and gain extra effects based on which warcry fed them (Seismic Cry exerts get bonus stun, Infernal Cry exerts get bonus fire damage).
Warbringer also leans into totems — Ancestral Warrior Totem and similar plant a stationary slamming totem that attacks independently. A Warbringer with both rotating warcries and a planted totem effectively gets three damage sources (you + warcry hits + totem) running at once, with the totem requiring zero attention after placement.
The Warbringer's strength is sustained, multi-source damage output rather than burst. For boss fights, open with a Seismic Cry to stun and apply Exerts, plant a totem, then chain Earthshatter or Rolling Slam with the Exerts active. The 0.2.0 patch QoL pass tuned several warcries — verify exact warcry durations and Exert counts against current patch notes before committing investment.
Smith of Kitava — NEW Ascendancy in 0.2.0
Smith of Kitava is the third Warrior ascendancy added in patch 0.2.0 'Dawn of the Hunt'. The mechanic is built around smithing: ascendancy nodes let you handcraft modifiers onto your own personal legendary weapon over the course of a character's life, instead of trading or RNG-rolling for one. Smith of Kitava nodes both upgrade the weapon mods you can craft and add passive bonuses (fire damage, armour, life) that synergize with whatever weapon you smith.
Because the ascendancy is brand-new in 0.2.0, Maxroll and Fextralife guides for Smith of Kitava are still maturing. The high-level takeaway is that Smith of Kitava is the highest-ceiling Warrior ascendancy IF you commit to the smithing investment, and the most punishing if you don't follow through. As of patch 0.2.0f, ascendancy points can be respec'd — so experimenting with Smith of Kitava is low-cost.
Titan Earthshatter Build — Skill Setup (0.2.0)
| Slot | Recommended pick | Why / notes |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Skill | Earthshatter | Lay a line of stone spikes; subsequent slams detonate them for huge AoE physical damage |
| Burst Skill | Hammer of the Gods | Cooldown-based massive single slam; use on cooldown against bosses |
| Map Clear Skill | Rolling Slam | Charge forward in a line dealing slam damage; covers gaps between Earthshatter detonations |
| Totem (Giants Blood frees a hand) | Ancestral Warrior Totem | Plants a stationary slamming totem; significant DPS with zero ongoing attention |
| Movement Skill | Leap Slam | Jumps to target location and slams on landing; deals damage and refreshes flask charges |
| Support (Earthshatter) | Brutality Support | +35% more physical damage; supported skill deals no chaos / elemental — fine on physical Earthshatter |
| Support 2 | Concentrated Effect Support | More AoE damage at the cost of AoE size — strong on bosses, weaker on clear |
| Warcry | Seismic Cry | Generates Exerts and applies a stagger; cast before engaging packs / bosses |
Gear Priority by Slot (real PoE 2 bases)
| Slot | Recommended pick | Why / notes |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Two-Handed Mace (high Physical DPS base) | Giant Maul / Blacksmith Maul / Forge Maul are top-tier 2H bases for slam scaling; Pointed Maul if you want pierce-flavored builds |
| Shield (Titan with Giants Blood) | Rare shield with life and resistances | Giants Blood lets you keep a shield while wielding a 2H mace — use any rare shield with 70+ life and capped resists |
| Helmet | Rare STR helmet with life, resistances, Strength | Use the highest base armour helmet you can equip; verify base names on poe2db.tw before trading |
| Body Armour | Rare STR body armour (Glorious Plate is top-tier) | Glorious Plate / Conqueror Plate / Colosseum Plate provide highest armour values; aim for 100+ life and 60%+ total resists |
| Gloves | Rare STR gloves with life, attack speed, resistances | Use a high-armour STR base; physical damage with maces also a strong prefix |
| Boots | Rare STR boots with life, movement speed (25%+), resistances | Movement speed compensates for the Warrior's slower base movement |
| Belt | Rare heavy belt with Strength, life, and resistances | Heavy belts roll Strength as implicit; great for hitting Giants Blood attribute requirements |
Stat Priorities for the Warrior (0.2.0)
- Strength: Primary stat — scales life and physical damage; also unlocks 2H weapon attribute requirements (especially important for Giants Blood Titan).
- Life: Aim for 5,000+ life by yellow maps and 7,000+ in red maps; +flat life prefix on every gear slot.
- Armour: Stack Armour from body armour, helmet, gloves, and passive nodes; Granite Charm (in your Charm slot) spikes armour for boss moments.
- Physical Damage (weapon and passives): The biggest DPS lever; the weapon upgrade ladder beats almost any other gear improvement.
- Resistances: Cap at 75% Fire/Cold/Lightning; then work toward 40%+ chaos resistance for endgame.
- Attack Speed: Secondary DPS stat; more attacks per second means more Exert consumption and faster Hammer of the Gods cycles.
- Endurance Charges (Warbringer): Each charge reduces physical damage taken by a percentage; cap at 5 charges for Warbringer rotations.
Frequently asked questions
Is Titan, Warbringer, or Smith of Kitava better for a beginner?
Titan is the best beginner pick. Earthshatter + Hammer of the Gods + Giants Blood (mace + shield) is forgiving, simple to execute, and tanky. Warbringer requires more attention to the warcry rotation. Smith of Kitava is intriguing but the smithing system rewards planning — not a great first character because community guides are still maturing.
What weapon type should a Warrior use?
Two-Handed Maces — Giant Maul, Blacksmith Maul, Forge Maul, Pointed Maul, and Greatmace are the top-tier PoE 2 0.2.0 mace bases. They scale slam skills (Earthshatter, Hammer of the Gods, Rolling Slam, Boneshatter) better than any other weapon type. Sword / axe bases exist for non-slam Warrior playstyles but are niche.
Do PoE 1 mace bases like Karui Maul or Terror Maul exist in PoE 2?
No. Karui Maul, Terror Maul, Astral Plate, Vaal Regalia, Ezomyte Burgonet, Steelscale Gauntlets, and Rustic Sash are all PoE 1 bases — none of them exist in PoE 2 0.2.0. Always verify a base name on poe2db.tw before buying or crafting around it. PoE 2's top-tier STR body armour is Glorious Plate; top-tier 2H maces are Giant Maul / Blacksmith Maul.
When should I use Hammer of the Gods?
Use Hammer of the Gods on cooldown during boss fights and against rare monsters. In mapping, save it for tough rares Earthshatter doesn't immediately kill. The cooldown is around 10–14 seconds depending on gear and passives — never skip a cast during boss fights, even if it doesn't one-shot, because each Hammer hit deals a huge chunk of percent-of-HP relative to normal attacks.
Can the Warrior tank Pinnacle Bosses?
Yes, the Warrior — particularly Titan with Giants Blood — is the most durable character in PoE 2 0.2.0. With 7,000+ life, capped resistances, a Granite Charm popping for big telegraphs, and Endurance Charges (Warbringer) or pure raw armour (Titan with shield), the Warrior can survive consecutive Pinnacle Boss hits that would instantly kill a Witch or Ranger of equivalent gear level.
