Early Game Food: Berry Plantation

The Berry Plantation is your first automated food source. Build it from the Technology Tree (Level 3) using Wood and Stone, then assign a Pal with Planting suitability (Lifmunk, Tanzee, or similar) to plant seeds and a Pal with Gathering suitability to collect ripe berries. A watering Pal (Pengullet, Fuack) is also needed to water the growing plants.

One Berry Plantation with three Pals assigned (planter, waterer, gatherer) produces a steady stream of Red Berries automatically. Stock your Feed Box with harvested berries as the primary early Pal food. For yourself, carry at least 10–15 berries during exploration. A Cookpot (Technology Level 5) lets you cook Red Berries in batches into Cooked Berries for better hunger restoration.

Build two or three Berry Plantations as soon as possible — one plantation supplies approximately 5–10 Pals on small meals (raw berries), but cooked variants stretch supply further. The main limitation is that raw and cooked berries provide modest hunger restoration compared to mid-game foods, requiring more frequent feeding. Expand food production as your Pal workforce grows.

Mid-Game Food: Wheat Plantation and Ranch

The Wheat Plantation (Technology unlock, mid-game) produces Wheat Grain, which a Mill converts into Flour. Flour enables bread, pizza, and other high-restoration cooked foods at the Cookpot. Wheat requires Watering Pals to maintain, so ensure you have 1–2 Watering Pals (Pengullet Level 1, Elphidran Level 2) assigned before building the plantation.

The Ranch building (Technology unlock) is a structure where specific Pals produce animal products passively. Place Mozzarina (cow-type Pal) in the Ranch to generate Milk over time. Place Chikipi in the Ranch for Eggs. Place Elizabee or Cinnamoth for Honey. These resources are essential for cooking higher-quality dishes and for Cake production (needed for Breeding).

A complete mid-game food infrastructure includes: Berry Plantation (bulk Pal food), Wheat Plantation (Flour supply), Mill (grain processing), Ranch (Milk + Eggs + Honey), and Cookpot (recipe cooking). With this chain running, you can produce Cakes for breeding and high-nutrition meals for exploration. The Cookpot recipes unlock progressively — invest Technology Points in the cooking branch.

Cake Production Chain

Steps

1. Harvest Red Berries from Berry Plantation (automated with Planting + Gathering Pals).
2. Harvest Wheat Grain from Wheat Plantation → send to Mill → Flour output collects in chest.
3. Collect Milk from Mozzarina at Ranch (1–3 Milk per day per animal).
4. Collect Eggs from Chikipi at Ranch (1–3 Eggs per day per animal).
5. Collect Honey from Elizabee or Cinnamoth at Ranch (1 Honey per day per animal).
6. Open Cookpot → queue Cake recipe (5 Flour + 8 Berries + 7 Milk + 8 Eggs + 2 Honey).
7. Assign Kindling Pal to Cookpot — Cake cooks automatically over 1 game cycle.
8. Collect finished Cakes and store in chest near the Breeding Farm.

Tips

• Keep 3+ Mozzarina and 5+ Chikipi in Ranch for faster ingredient accumulation.
• Hire a Transporting Pal near Ranch to auto-move products to the Cookpot input chest.
• Stack multiple Cookpots with Kindling Pals to batch-cook Cakes faster.

Food Quality Comparison

Verdict: For daily Pal feeding, Cooked Berries or Bread are the practical choices due to volume. Save Cake production for Breeding Farm use. Salads and Pizza are good personal exploration foods for maximum hunger restoration per item.

Hunger Management Tips

• Always keep the Feed Box stocked — a hungry Pal stops working and loses Sanity. Maintain 30–50 food items minimum.
• Higher quality food restores more hunger per item — cooked meals allow Pals to work longer between eating breaks.
• Check each Pal's hunger in the Palbox — individual Pals show hunger level. Address starving Pals immediately.
• Build multiple Feed Boxes in large bases so Pals don't travel far to eat and waste working time.
• Your personal hunger depletes during combat and movement — carry 10+ food items during dungeon runs.
• Pal Sanity decreases from hunger, overwork, and discomfort. Feed Pals well and provide beds to maintain Sanity above 80% for peak productivity.
• Ranch animals don't need to be fed individually — assign them to the Ranch and they eat automatically from the Feed Box like other base Pals.
