Zoe & Grizzbolt Boss Quick Reference

Recommended Level and Preparation

Zoe and Grizzbolt are tuned for players around Level 15–20 in solo play. Below Level 12, Grizzbolt's attacks will deal too much damage to sustain combat for the full 10-minute window even with healing. At Level 18–20 with mid-tier armor, the fight becomes comfortably manageable with knowledge of the attack patterns.

Equip the best armor available to you at your current level — prioritize defense stat over other attributes. Craft 15–20 Cooked Berries or better food for in-combat healing. You cannot access your Palbox during the Tower Boss fight, so bring your best team of 4–5 Pals in your party before entering.

The Tower Boss arena has no special environmental hazards — it's a flat enclosed space. This favors aggressive approaches: stay mobile, dodge continuously, and send your Pals to attack Grizzbolt while you deal personal weapon damage to Zoe (the trainer). Reducing Zoe's HP also contributes to the fight.

Best Pals to Bring

• Digtoise (Ground Lv 2) — Ground-type bonus damage against Electric Grizzbolt; durable and hits hard for its early-game availability.
• Rushoar (Ground Lv 1) — Available in the starting area with Ground type; contributes bonus damage though weaker than Digtoise.
• Grintale (Ground type) — Higher damage output if you can catch one in the wilds east of the starting area.
• Mossanda (Grass type) — Neutral type but high HP pool makes it a durable damage dealer that survives multiple Grizzbolt hits.
• Any high-level Pal you have — even non-counter Pals contribute damage; level advantage matters more than type advantage at this boss.
• Avoid: Water Pals (Pengullet, Teafant, etc.) — Grizzbolt's Electric type counters Water, causing your Pal to take bonus damage.
• Avoid: Electric Pals — Same type as Grizzbolt means reduced effectiveness in dealing and receiving some attacks.

Grizzbolt Attack Patterns

Grizzbolt's standard melee combo involves two to three swings with its electrified claws. The swings have moderate range — stay outside melee range when Grizzbolt approaches and dodge backward when you see the claw wind-up animation. After the combo, Grizzbolt pauses briefly — this is your window to deal damage with your weapon and trigger Pal attacks.

The Gatling Cannon is Grizzbolt's most dangerous attack and the primary cause of deaths in this fight. Grizzbolt rears back and fires a rapid stream of electric bullets that track your position. Dodge aggressively sideways (perpendicular to the fire direction, not backward) during this attack — moving sideways makes you harder to track than backward movement. The cannon burst lasts approximately 3–4 seconds, so dodge twice or three times to clear the full burst.

Thunderball is a slower projectile attack where Grizzbolt charges and releases a large electric ball. This is relatively easy to dodge with a single sidestep well before the ball reaches you. The projectile has travel time, so dodge when you see the release animation rather than when the ball arrives.

Combat Strategy

The most effective strategy is an aggressive pressure approach: keep Grizzbolt's attention divided between your Pals and yourself so it cannot consistently aim its Gatling Cannon at one target. Deploy all your Ground-type Pals immediately on entering, then use your own weapon to deal damage to Grizzbolt's body directly.

Targeting Zoe (the trainer) alongside Grizzbolt deals direct damage to the boss's combined HP pool. Zoe herself does minimal personal attacks but stays near Grizzbolt. Occasionally landing hits on Zoe with your weapon keeps the HP depletion coming from multiple angles. Don't chase Zoe aggressively — stay aware of Grizzbolt's attack patterns while hitting Zoe opportunistically.

Use healing food (Cooked Berries or better) aggressively — don't wait until you're at low HP to heal. Mid-HP healing keeps you in the fight longer without risking a death reset. If a Pal faints during the fight, don't attempt to revive it inside the arena (risky) — focus on surviving and dealing damage with remaining Pals.

Boss Rewards and What to Spend Them On

• Ancient Technology Points: The primary Tower Boss reward — used to unlock advanced Technology Tree items like Pal Condenser, Egg Incubator upgrades, and late-game structures.
• Amount received: defeating Zoe and Grizzbolt grants 2–4 Ancient Technology Points depending on performance.
• Best uses for early Ancient Technology Points: Egg Incubator (essential for hatching Pal Eggs) and Pal Condenser (for condensing duplicate Pals).
• Experience Points: Tower Boss kills grant substantial EXP — often enough to level up 2–3 times at the level range where this boss is encountered.
• Can be re-challenged: Tower Bosses in Palworld reset and can be re-challenged. Return after leveling up if you struggle on the first attempt.
• Multiplayer scaling: In co-op, Grizzbolt's HP scales up — bring more Pals and coordinate to avoid friendly fire during Pal attacks.
