KCD2 Wedding Crashers Walkthrough — All Endings, Persuasion Checks, and Rewards

Quest context
Wedding Crashers is the first major branching quest in KCD2, triggered after the Trosky introduction sequence (roughly 3-5 hours into the game). The quest sets up the rest of Act 1's political tension — your choice here affects how the Trosky nobility view Henry through the entire region's quest line.
The setup: a rival faction (the Suchdol family) is attempting to disrupt a Trosky-allied wedding by either killing the groom or kidnapping the bride. You arrive with Hans Capon, who frames the choice as 'how do we handle this — diplomatically, violently, or quietly?'
All three approaches are valid and lead to a completed quest. The difference is in the rewards, reputation effects, and which sub-quests open afterwards. This guide walks each ending and explains which fits which build.
Quest prerequisites
- Complete the Trosky introduction (Captain Bernard's first meeting, Hans Capon's tour of Trosky).
- Have at least 1 Savior Schnapps in inventory — you will want to save before the wedding confrontation.
- Optional but recommended: Defense 4+ (so master-strike is close to unlocking if you pick violent).
- Optional: Speech 5+ (for the peaceful ending Speech 6 check).
- Optional: Stealth 4+ (for the stealth ending checks).
- Bring a longsword + short bow + 20 arrows minimum. The violent route requires a melee fight.
Ending 1: Peaceful (Speech 6 — recommended for hybrid builds)
The peaceful ending requires you to confront the Suchdol attackers and talk them down. You enter the wedding hall, find the attackers preparing to ambush the groom, and engage them in dialogue rather than combat.
The Speech check is 6 (Smooth-Talker perk reduces this by 1). If you fail, the attackers laugh and engage you in combat (effectively forcing the violent ending). If you succeed, the attackers leave peacefully and the wedding proceeds.
Rewards: 800 groschen, the Reichersdorf Longsword (68 slash / 70 stab — best Act 1 longsword), Trosky reputation +20, Hans Capon trust +15. Unlocks the 'Speak of the Devil' branch with a non-violent option.
Peaceful ending step-by-step
- Approach the wedding hall main entrance during the ceremony (in-game time will progress).
- Hans alerts you to the attackers. Choose 'I'll handle this' dialogue option to approach them alone.
- Enter the side chamber where the attackers are positioned. They will draw weapons but not immediately attack.
- Dialogue triggers. First choice: 'You don't want to do this' (low-key, recommended) or 'I'll kill all of you' (intimidation, requires Strength 5+).
- Speech check 6 happens here. If passed, attackers retreat. If failed, fight begins (see violent ending).
- Return to Hans. Tell him 'they're gone' for the peaceful ending tag.
- Receive rewards from the bride's father at the wedding feast.
Ending 2: Violent (kill all attackers)
The violent ending is the default if you don't have Speech 6 or fail the persuasion check. You enter the side chamber, the attackers draw weapons, and combat begins.
The fight is 3v1 (you + Hans Capon AI vs 3 Suchdol attackers). Hans is a reliable AI companion who handles one attacker independently, so functionally it's 2v2 from your perspective. The attackers are mid-tier — short swords, leather armor. A new player with Defense 5+ and master-strike can clear them in 2-3 minutes.
Rewards: looted Suchdol gear (avg 400-600 groschen worth), the Wedding Crashers Spear (free polearm, 55 stab), reputation cost: -15 Trosky reputation (the family is upset by violence at their wedding) but +10 with Hans Capon (he loves a brawl).
Recommended loadout for violent ending fight
| Slot | Recommended pick | Why / notes |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Weapon | Hans's prologue Short Sword | Fast swing speed for tight indoor combat |
| Shield | Small Wooden Shield | Critical for blocking the 3 incoming attackers |
| Armor | Brigantine + Padded Gambeson | Brigantine bypasses some Suchdol short-sword strikes |
| Ranged | Hunting Bow + 5 arrows | Optional opening shot at far attacker before melee |
| Consumables | Bandage x3, Bowman Potion x1 | Heal mid-fight if bleeding starts |
Ending 3: Stealth (sneak the bride out)
The stealth ending requires Stealth 5+ and is the most complex of the three. You skip the wedding confrontation entirely by sneaking into the bride's chamber via a side passage, escorting her out the back, and intercepting the attackers at the gate before they enter the hall.
The stealth ending has two persuasion sub-checks (Speech 5 to convince the bride to leave; Speech 4 to convince the gate guard to look away) and one stealth check (Stealth 5 to enter the bride's chamber unnoticed). Failing any check triggers detection and forces violent ending.
Rewards: 600 groschen, a unique stealth-themed accessory (Bride's Pendant — +5 Charisma in noble dialogue), unlocks the Suchdol Heretics side branch (a multi-quest series with its own rewards in Act 2). Reputation: +10 with Trosky, +5 with Suchdol (they appreciate the discretion).
Stealth ending step-by-step
- Approach the wedding hall but DO NOT enter the main entrance. Sneak around the east side to the bride's chamber.
- Stealth check 5 — you must enter the chamber without being noticed by the two patrolling guards. Wear non-noisy armor (gambeson, no plate).
- Inside the chamber, speak with the bride. Speech check 5 — convince her to flee with you.
- Escort the bride out the back gate. Speech check 4 — convince the gate guard to look away.
- Approach the front gate where the attackers are waiting. Engage in dialogue.
- Intimidation check — if you have Strength 5+ and Intimidator perk, the attackers retreat without combat. Otherwise, brief 1v3 fight (Hans NOT present here, since he's still inside the hall).
- Return to Hans inside the hall. Receive rewards from the Trosky father.
Ending comparison
| Ending | Rewards | Reputation | Best for | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Peaceful (Speech 6) | Peaceful | 800g + Reichersdorf Longsword | +20 Trosky, +15 Hans | Hybrid build, longsword users |
| Violent | Violent | 400-600g loot + Wedding Crashers Spear | -15 Trosky, +10 Hans | Warrior build, polearm users |
| Stealth | Stealth | 600g + Bride's Pendant | +10 Trosky, +5 Suchdol | Stealth build, opens Heretics arc |
Which ending opens what later
Each ending unlocks different downstream content. Peaceful ending opens the 'Speak of the Devil' branch with a diplomatic resolution path (more Speech XP). Violent ending opens 'Necessary Evil' with combat-heavy quest variants. Stealth ending opens the Suchdol Heretics multi-quest series in Act 2 (4 additional quests, each with their own rewards).
If you're playing a completionist run, the stealth ending unlocks the most additional content (the entire Heretics arc). If you're playing a quick run, the peaceful ending gives the best single-quest reward (Reichersdorf Longsword + most groschen).
Common mistakes that ruin Wedding Crashers
- Going for peaceful with only Speech 4-5. The check is 6 (5 with Smooth-Talker). Reload and pick violent if your Speech is too low.
- Forgetting Hans is an AI ally during the violent ending. Let him take one attacker; don't try to 1v3.
- Wearing full plate for the stealth ending. The noise penalty makes Stealth 5 impossible.
- Killing the bride's groom or any wedding guest during the violent fight. This triggers a quest failure variant with no rewards.
- Looting wedding gifts before completing the quest. Several gift items are quest-flagged and triggering theft alerts the family.
- Selling the Reichersdorf Longsword to a Trosky smith. It's a one-off unique drop; you can't recover it if sold.
- Not saving before the Speech check. The reload cost is real if you don't have a save buffer.
Frequently asked questions
What's the best ending for Wedding Crashers?
Depends on your build. Hybrid builds (Defense + Speech) take the peaceful ending for the Reichersdorf Longsword. Warrior builds take violent for the polearm reward and Hans combat bond. Stealth builds take stealth for the long-term Heretics quest arc unlock. There's no objectively 'best' — pick by playstyle.
Can I do Wedding Crashers without Hans Capon?
No. Hans is a scripted companion for this quest — he accompanies you to the wedding regardless. In the peaceful and violent endings he's actively present. In the stealth ending he stays inside while you sneak around. You can't dismiss him.
What if I fail the Speech check?
You're forced into a 1v3 violent fight without Hans's combat support (he's left to alert the wedding). This is very difficult for Act 1 Henry. Reload your save and pick violent ending directly instead, OR train Speech to 6 first via earlier dialogue checks and return.
Is the Reichersdorf Longsword worth the peaceful ending?
Yes — it's the best Act 1 longsword at 68 slash / 70 stab and stays competitive into early Act 2. Worth 1500+ groschen if sold, but better kept as a primary weapon. The peaceful ending also gives 800 groschen on top of the sword, so the total reward value (~2300 groschen) is the highest of all three endings.
Does the violent ending lock me out of other quests?
Only the diplomatic version of 'Speak of the Devil' — the violent variant of that quest opens up instead. Trosky reputation -15 also makes Trosky quest givers slightly less friendly but doesn't lock anything significant. Most major Act 1 content remains accessible after the violent ending.
Can I do Wedding Crashers as a low-Stealth character?
Yes — peaceful or violent endings don't require Stealth. Stealth is only needed for the third ending variant. If your Stealth is below 5, ignore that branch and pick peaceful (Speech-based) or violent (combat-based) instead.
